Welcome to another entry to our ‘Ask Us Anything’ series!

Who are you and what is your role at Schools Plus?
Toby Arbenz, Multi-Site Venue Manager in Kent & Sussex
What is an activity that you enjoy doing in your spare time away from work?
I like to go to the gym and to cycle when the weather allows.
How long have you worked for Schools Plus?
A little over 3 years now.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could only bring 3 things, what would you choose to bring and why?
The sensible answer is: tool box, water purifier and fishing rod. A fun answer eludes me as I always think beyond the basics. So when somebody says ‘a jet-ski’, I think great! But what about when the fuel runs out, or an iPod or kindle where the battery dies. So I think it best to stick with the practical stuff.
What is your favourite part about working for Schools Plus?
The flexibility of the working week and the people within the business. I feel like we are all going in the same, or at least a similar, direction.
You are a crayon in the box what colour would you be and why?
Orange. It’s bright and colourful but not too in your face like those glitter crayons, all flash and ‘look at me!’
Can you describe a typical working day for you?
Usually if working from home in the week I do 9am to 3pm then take a couple of hours off to go to the gym or the beach in summer. Then from 5pm to 7pm I’m back to it and there to help any staff who need me on site.
What’s your favourite film and why?
I have many, but the one film I’ve seen more than any is probably “The Fugitive” with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. I enjoy the cat-and-mouse of it all.
What do you think the future holds for Schools Plus?
Onwards and upwards! We are not quite perfect yet, but we are doing a pretty decent job if you ask me. We’ve cracked the processes and are now needing to grow.
Thank you to Toby for joining us on the blog today. We hope you enjoyed finding out a little bit more about one of our most experienced Venue Managers. Keep checking back to the blog as we continue to add more staff interviews!
