Last week saw the latest edition of our quarterly company conference. We were kindly hosted by one of our partner schools, The Harefield Academy. It was great to be at one of our sites and to get some of the wider team together to catch up and plan for the upcoming months.
The conference kicked off with members arriving to pastries, chats with colleagues and a much-needed cup of coffee. For a company where most colleagues work remotely it is so nice to see a large group together.
When it was time to sit down, we took advantage of being at one of our sites and had the pleasure of the conference being opened by The Harefield Academy Headteacher, Tash Hurtado. She talked of their experience and expectations for out of hours lettings and us as their partner. This set the day off perfectly as the theme for the conference was “Operational Excellence Every Day”.
We then moved on to speeches from members of the leadership team. Tony, Mike and Wayne gave updates on Health and Safety, Operations and a general company overview. This lead neatly into the two working sessions of the day. As most of the conference attendance is made up of our Venue Managers, teams were tasked with debating the traits of the Ultimate Venue Manager; what skills does this person need to have to continue to support the schools we work within and the future agenda of Schools Plus as a business.
The next working session was based around the development of tech within the business. The brief was broad, and it gave groups the opportunity to think big! This led to exciting feedback as groups shared their thoughts on aiding customer experience and employee productivity alongside our continued focus on being operationally excellent.
It was time for a well-deserved lunch break. There were some treats for the afternoon to keep everyone fuelled for the remainder of the day which came in the form of cupcakes!
We moved into the afternoon of surgery groups lead by members from Sales, Marketing, HR and IT. This gave Venue Managers the chance to discuss issues and ideas both large scale and small and speak to our pool of specialist employees.
The day ended with words from our Managing Director Tony. He thanked the team for all their continued hard work and reminded everyone of their targets for the next conference.
