We understand that from time to time you may need to cancel a booking you make with us at one of our schools. This blog will share with you our cancellation policy and our most common questions.
Why do I need to sign a contract?
Schools Plus require you to sign a contract after the booking has been confirmed and payment has been taken. This is to ensure that you are aware of all the terms and conditions of the booking and once signed, that these terms are legally binding.
How do I make a cancellation?
All booking cancellations are required to be emailed to enquiries@schoolsplus.co.uk so that a member of the team can action the request.
Why do I need to give 7 days’ notice?
If you wish to cancel your booking, we require 7 days written notice and we will issue a credit note. Cancellations will not be accepted less than 7 days in advance of your booking and the full fee is payable. 7 days gives us enough time to find a replacement booking for your slot or rearrange our staffing schedule in plenty of time.
Why have you cancelled my booking?
On occasion, we may need to cancel your booking due to the school needing the space for exams, parents’ evenings or other school events. If this is the case, we will advise you in as much advance as possible, refund you in full and aim to try to reschedule your booking or look for an alternative venue.
Other times we may need to cancel your booking if the building or facility is unsafe or not fit for purpose. This could be due to poor weather, snow or flooding, or an issue within the facility. This decision is made by the Venue Manager and you will be informed as soon as possible.
Why do I need to give 28 days’ notice for a one-off event?
For one-off bookings, you may cancel provided you give at least 28 days’ advance notice by email to our customer contact centre. We will retain 20% of the fee as a non-refundable deposit. This is because we have agreed to take the slot off sale for the duration between the booking and the cancellation losing the opportunity to provide the space to other interested customers. The planning of a one-off event typically involves additional time and expense to arrange so retaining a deposit allows us to recover some of our costs.
Cancellations will not be accepted less than 28 days in advance and the full fee is payable.
What happens if I cancel too many bookings?
There may come a time where more cancellations occur than bookings which could be an unfortunate coincidence or a persistent cancellation. If it is deemed as a persistent cancellation we may cancel your contract. This is a rare occurrence but protects us and the school from the risk of space being reserved and taken off sale to not then be utilised. We will always engage with the customer regarding this possibility and look to resolve the matter before invoking the cancellation.
